First Aid Kits for the Workplace

The current edition is CSA Z1220:2024, which updates the original CSA Z1220:2017 standard. It establishes the minimum requirements for workplace first aid kits, including kit classification, contents, selection, maintenance, and labelling. Adoption of the standard depends on provincial or territorial legislation

CSA Z1220 also requires that workplace first aid kits:

• Be clearly identified with a first aid symbol.
• Be readily accessible to workers.
• Be kept clean, dry, and protected from damage.
• Contain latex-free medical supplies where required.
• Include a contents list and first aid treatment record forms.
• Be inspected regularly and restocked after use or when items expire.
